Storage Tab

The Storage Tab is an improvement since version 2.0 that allows content to be easily reused on different maps and in different document vaults. This makes it very easy to create corporate design building blocks and keep them centrally so that modeling is faster and your users can share predefined content.

For more information about the Storage concept see Personal, Public and Independent Storage.

Storage User Interface

The Storage area consists of 3 sections:

  1. Buttons at the top that enable the configuration of the Storage elements
  2. A search bar
  3. Storage elements sorted by notations and categories

Buttons

The buttons allow to perform various actions:

  1. Select the Public Storage (Storage elements change in the lower section)
  2. Select the Private Storage (Storage elements change in the lower section)
  3. Open the Storage Configuration
  4. Save the Storage after edit
  5. Discard changes after edit
  6. Access the Edit Mode
  7. Import Elements e.g. from other document vaults
  8. Export Elements to a transfer file

Search and Use Elements

  1. The search bar can be used to enter substrings from the element name. The list of storage elements is then filtered according to the search term. To reset the view, simply remove the search term.
  2. To display a storage element in an enlarged view, it can be zoomed in by mouse-over.
  3. When you have found the right element, you can simply drag and drop it onto the canvas. However, it is currently not possible to drag and drop elements from the canvas into storage. Please use the buttons in Edit Mode for this.

Storage Configuration

The Storage configuration allows to:

  1. Change the Display mode of the Storage elements
  2. Configure the preset Tile size
  3. Change the visibilty for Tooltips
  4. Change the preview delay until a storage element is displayed
  5. Define the image size of the preview images

Edit Mode

Since it may be necessary to work with different permissions (e.g. as a Storage admin), there is a separate edit mode that enables additional actions:

  1. Enable or disable Edit Mode (with vault administrator permission)
  2. Add select items from the canvas to the storage (), Delete () elements from the storage, Edit () the name of the storage elements within the Storage.
  3. Add operations are displayed in green, Delete operations are displayed in red and neutral (already saved) elements are displayed in grey.
  4. Click Save changes () to save all your changes or Discard Changes () to reset the Storage.

Manage Folder Structure

If you have a lot of storage elements, it is recommended to create a folder structure for better clarity:

  1. Enable or disable Edit Mode (with vault administrator permission)
  2. Create () oder delete () subfolders (e.g. for categories) within the Storage.
  3. Add operations are displayed in green, Delete operations are displayed in red and neutral (already saved) elements are displayed in grey.
  4. Click Save changes () to save all your changes or Discard Changes () to reset the Storage.
  5. Click on the arrow symbols (^) to open or close subfolders

Import

6. Use the import button to switch the dailog to import mode
7. You can now select your transfer file using the browse dialog
